Extend Igboho’s freedom gesture to Kanu, Igbo youths beg FG

The South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has urged President Bola Tinubu to unconditionally release leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, from custody, the same way Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho) was freed by the by Beninese authorities

The association stated that Kanu, like Igboho, is a freedom fighter, being held for speaking for his people, the same way Igboho agitated for Yoruba nation.

In a statement signed by its President-General, Goodluck Ibem, the group said it was aware the Federal Government played a significant role in securing Igboho’s release from the Benin Republic.

The youths noted: “It amounts to selective justice for the Federal Government to facilitate and secure the release of Sunday Ighoho from detention leaving Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is an agitator like Sunday Igboho.

“Agitation is not a crime under the law. It is the right of any citizen, who feels shortchanged or aggrieved to agitate for his or her rights

“We know that the Federal Government, saddled with the responsibility to protect and provide security for Nigerians, knows the right thing to do to restore security in the South East zone, which is to unconditionally release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from DSS custody as ordered by the Court of Appeal.”

“The insecurity in the South East geopolitical zone is because of the unlawful incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu and the marginalisation of the people of the South East in the scheme of things
